Expanding Wageningen?s bicycle infrastructure

The municipality of Wageningen recently constructed a new crossing on the Hollandseweg for cyclists. What is special about this new crossing? It was a local citizen driven request! From the Fietsersbond Wageningen. The Dutch Fietsersbond (Cyclist Union) is an organisation which represents the interests of cyclists in the Netherlands by working towards the expansion and improvement of bicycle friendly infrastructure.

The attached image indicates the old and new situation. In the old situation the two-way bicycle path evolved without any notice in a single lane bicycle path. Therefore, a new bicycle crossing, to guide cyclist to the other side of the road, was necessary.

The municipality is pleased with the very attentive cyclists in Wageningen.
