New cycling developments in Wageningen

Here we would like to keep you informed on the latest developments around the cycling infrastructure in Wageningen. 

Here are some new projects that have been implemented to improve the cycling experience in Wageningen: 

Fast cyclingroute Ede-Wageningen:

Between Ede and Wageningen a lot of people commute by bicycle. This cycling route passes important companies and educational facilities such as the Wageningen University &Reseacrh. On this route cyclists pass a lot of intersections and they do not always have priority on the roundabouts they encounter on this route. To improve the cycling experience the municipality of Ede, Wageningen and the province of Gelderland have decided to create a fast cycling route.  This trace will be 8,4 kilometres long and has started in 2022.  A lot of parts of this trace have been improved, but the whole route is not yet complete.

Churchillweg is a cycling street!:

The Churchillweg used to be a route for through going traffic. This car centred road has of June 2025 been transformed into a cyclingstreet. Majority of this cycling street is part of the cycling network called the Pico Bello Pad. This cyclingnetwork connects Wageningen with Ede. 

A cycling street is:

• a street on which cyclist have priority and the car is a guest. 
• a street where car’s can only drive the speedlimit of 30km/h and have to give way to cyclists. 
• where you shoudl be aware that you share the road with cars, they are supposed to drive behind you until there is a safe place to take over.
